"That's a long time, you know?" Darrin let out a shaky laugh, feeling absolute bliss. He kissed Angel firm once more before releasing her lips and reaching up with his free hand to brush at her hair. "I love you, Angel."
It'd been a little over eight months since Darrin and Angel settled into the teen parenthood lifestyle and while in those eight months there had been some strife and struggles, as well as moments of bliss and joy, life at the moment seemed to be more perfect than ever.
Since the birth of their daughter, Aerwyn, Darrin had graduated from high school with prestigious honor and had also taken up a full time apprenticeship at the auto mechanic shop he'd previously been working at. He'd also, quite a bit ago, had proposed to Angel and, much to his pleasure, she'd said yes. He appeared to be living the dream with a little woman to come home to, a child of his own, and a job with good and steady pay, and yet there was still something missing:
A home to call their own.
Of course he didn't mind living with his parents, and he was quite grateful, but he knew that Angel had been wanting to move out for quite some time, moreover, she wanted to move out of Fort Morgan, and due to recent gang affiliated events in Fort Morgan, he couldn't agree more that to move away was the right choice.
So, there he was, at home, waiting for Angel to get home from work so they could go out and look at houses in the area (outside of Fort Morgan preferably) while his sisters tended to Aerwyn, who, at the moment, was contentedly cooing to herself as she crawled about the floor while playing with herself, Darrin sitting aside as an observer.
Angel had been pretty content and in actuality, happy. It felt like years ago that Darrin found Angel in that dumpster, she felt like a different person now. Albeit she was still the same cry baby, stuttered occasionally as well as some night terrors every once and awhile. But she had gained a healthy amount of weight, her hair had grown out and she felt like a matured adult. While everything was based on being a teen parent, Angel had a beautiful baby girl and a wonderful fiance with a stable home and job.
Although she and Darrin had spoken of looking for their own place, not that Angel didn't appreciate the hospitality of his family. She adored his sisters and fit in with the family just fine, but being out of school it wouldn't be so bad if they could find their own place. Hopefully out of town. Letting herself in she gently shut the front door behind herself; smiling upon seeing Aerwyn and Darrin.
"Hi, I'm home." She said with a grin before padding over to scoop up Aerwyn.
"Hey, sweets, how was work?" Darrin asked with a grin as he stood up from his seat on the couch, bending over to grab up the newspaper he'd been leafing through and tuck it under his arm.
Aerwyn let out a high pitched squeal of excitement, her typical greeting for both mother and father, as she was lifted into Angel's arms. She flailed about and reached up to grab at her mother's face, a wet, sloppy smile on her face.
"Good. Lots of tips." Angel said, cradling Aerwyn in her arms as she smiled down at her. Cooing lightly at her child she reached down and tickled her belly lightly, fawning over her baby as always.
"How was your day?" She asked, not looking away yet from Aerwyn.
"It was pretty good, worked on some pretty cool stuff and came home early to get baby doll here here all squared away before you and I went out." Darrin said with a grin as he observed both of his gals with fond eyes as he always did.
Aerwyn squealed again, louder and even more high pitch than before and arched her back in Angel's arms before proceeding to laugh giddily.
"As soon as you're ready. I went through some of the ads earlier and picked out a few places for us to look at just outside of town. There's a few promising lots out there." Darrin said with a growing grin as he looked after Angel.
"Alright, sounds good then." Darrin went ahead and got himself up and situated before making his way on over to Aerwyn to only crouch down and give her a light peck at her forehead, not that she cared or minded, as she was much to busy playing. "You be a good girl for your aunts, you hear, Aerwyn? Momma and Poppa will be back before you know it." He crooned before cocking a grin and standing upright.
As soon as he was back up, Darrin gave a holler for his sisters, to which Leah, out of the three of them, responded by entering the living room, eager to take on her aunty-babysitting duties as she crouched down onto the floor with Aerwyn.
"Alright, looks like we're all ready then." Darrin said, looking to Angel with a nod and a grin.
"Alright, let's go, let's go." Darrin said, doing the same gesture before reaching down and grabbing up Angel's hand, heading on over to Darrin's faithful ol' Gremlin in the driveway.
