"I don't know what you mean," Franky said with a half grin and a light hearted chuckle. "I don't suppose you'd want any help painting would you?" He asked shortly after. |

"I'd love some help painting." Candice said with a pleasant grin and nod. |

Candice sat curled up on the couch in one of her casual day-off outfits, most of which (like this one) consisted of a pair of well-worn jeans and loose fitted shirts and sweaters, with a glass of cheap wine, something she treated herself to every so often when there was cash to spare. She had gotten herself a few days off and had been enjoying them a great deal. It wasn't all too often she received several days off at a time like this and it was rather nice, it was nice not having to go to the club and dance, not having to get harangued by men, so on and so forth.
Haze was currently attending some of his after school activities while Franky had excused himself for the day for work, as per usual, so Candice's afternoon had been rather quiet, peaceful, and even a bit droll. |

Unlike Candice, Franky had been hard at work. He made good money as a contractor and he was good at it, he liked it a lot more than being a hotel bartender. As good as the money and work was, he was finally finished and had been excused to go home. Normally, Franky did the cooking. But after working all day, he picked up Chinese on the way home as a nice break from slaving over a hot stove.
After wedging open the front door with arms full once again, he kicked it shut behind him lightly before placing the paper sacks onto the coffee table. Wiping his brow with the back of his hand he smiled over at Candice with a short wave.
"I'm home, I brought food too." |

"Welcome home." Candice greeted with a fond smile before leaning over to the coffee table to set down her glass. "What did you bring home with you?" She inquired while adjusting herself in a better sitting position to peer into one of the bags Franky had carried in. She caught a whiff of the food inside the bag and successfully deduced the contents. She pulled a wider smile and looked up to Franky, shaking her head. "Franky, you didn't have to pick anything up. I could have cooked something or called for take-out myself." She said. Franky was full of kind gestures, always, but no matter how much kindness was expressed, she was always taken aback, she was always surprised (in a good way of course). |

"Chinese." Franky said as he hung up his coat before turning to face her again. "And I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to." He smiled before walking over and sitting beside her on the couch. |

"Well, in that case, let me treat you to some wine." Candice said, getting up from the couch. She skittered into the kitchen and grabbed up a glass from the drying rack beside the sink, as well as the wine bottle she had earlier left sitting on the counter. She returned to the living room and took her perch back up before pouring Franky a glass. "I know it isn't some big expensive liquor, but I promise it's just as satisfying." |

"I'll take your word for it, thank you." He nodded as he took the glass, taking a drink before sitting it on the table. "Go ahead and help yourself. I wasn't sure what you or Haze would want so I got a little bit of everything." |

"Oh, you know me, I'm not picky at all. I'll eat just about anything." Candice said with a grin before doing as Franky instructed and dug into the bag, pulling out a few boxes and settling them down on the table. "So how was work?" |

"Fine, remodeled a bathroom, you know how it goes." Franky said with a light shrug. "What about you? Enjoying your day off?" He inquired, plucking a box of low mein from the sack. |

"I always do. Mended a few patches here and there in kitchen and strung up a few more Christmas lights and ornaments." Candice said, gesturing to the living room window that had a frame of lights about it now. |

"They look great," Franky nodded. "Which reminds me, any ideas what Haze might want for Christmas?" Franky asked then. |

"Well, he told me that he wants to start playing baseball again, since thsi will be the last season he'll get to play with the high school, so maybe something baseball related. But I also saw the sad state of his jacket, and it is getting cold, so maybe a new coat, but then again is that really a good Christmas present?" Candice pressed her lips and furrowed her brow in thought and gave a slight nod. |

"Well it's not like I couldn't do both." Franky shrugged. |

"Oh, please, Franky, you spoil us enough as it is, he could do without one or the other." Candice said, giving a wave of her hand, as if to wave off Franky's notion. |
