| Angel opened her mouth and took a sharp breath, starting to speak but stopped herself. She licked her lips before biting the bottom one and silencing herself. She didn’t know what she was supposed to say, or rather, how to say it. |

| “I…It’s just…My Dad wasn’t…He wasn’t very good to me…” Angel said quietly, trailing off. She didn’t like to say bluntly that her Dad raped her. Let alone that he had done it repeatedly. It seemed taboo to speak off, especially since nobody had believed her when she tried to tell on him. Her Father was a good, Christian, God fearing man who could do no wrong. |

“He um…He ra-.” Angel tried to say it but she couldn’t muster the ability to get it out. She coughed and cleared her throat, her voice trembling with her hands as she could feel herself spiraling back into the mousey runaway she was. Angel tried again, it was years ago. She was a big girl now; God gave her a mouth so she could use it.
“He…He raped me…” She whispered despite trying to sound brave enough to let the words escape her lips but it came out quiet anyways. |

| Angel’s mouth parted open but no words came out, and her throat felt like it was burning. She couldn’t repeat herself, once was the most she could do. But at this juncture she merely feared that Darrin would reject the accusation, that like many others, he wouldn’t believe her. Her own Mother called her a liar and stated that all she wanted was attention, and make commotion so she could move back in. |
